The Bible Reading Coach, Week 2 (Genesis 15-35) Abraham, Isaac & Jacob

After covering creation and going through several millennia of history last week, this week the Bible slows down to God's plan to save the world, starting with one man and his family.

The Bible Reading Coach podcast is designed to help anyone read through the Bible in a year. In 10-15 minutes each Friday, I’ll introduce you to the passage for the following week, including:

  • What it’s about
  • How to deal with challenging passages
  • How the original readers saw it
  • How it applies today
  • And much more

After listening, take the next week to read the passage on your own. This time you’ll have a clearer understanding of it.

WEEK 2 (Genesis 15-35)

As we read Genesis 15-35 this week, we’ll see several important milestones and three big messy stories:

  1. Hagar and Ishmael
  2. Sodom and Gomorrah
  3. The command to sacrifice Isaac

In this episode we’ll talk about the importance of trying to read these stories without too many preconceptions so we can see more clearly that what really happens may not be what we’ve been told.

We’ll also walk through the life of Abraham’s son Isaac, and his grandson Jacob (whose name changes to Israel, the name that will also be given to his descendants and their land forever).
