Bible Reading Coach, Week 15 (2 Samuel 9-24) Sin, Repentance & Rebellion (David, Bathsheba & Absalom)

Israel's Glory Days were truly magnificent. But they were surprisingly short, and they came at a fearful price.

For the next two weeks we head into the Glory Days of Israel’s history with David’s reign, followed by the reign of his son, Solomon.

But before those lofty heights, we’ll see some serious challenges. As you read this week’s passages, note a few important characteristics:

  • The high price paid for the Glory Days
  • How truly wonderful they were
  • How very short they were

We’ll also see David’s horrible sin against Bathsheba and how he responds when confronted by the prophet. Then we’ll read another sad, but exciting story of rebellion against David by his own son, Absalom.

The Bible Reading Coach podcast is designed to help anyone read through the Bible in a year. In 10-15 minutes each Friday, I’ll introduce you to the passage for the following week, including:

  • What it’s about
  • How to deal with challenging passages
  • How the original readers saw it
  • How it applies today
  • And much more

After listening, take the next week to read the passage on your own. This time you’ll have a clearer understanding of it.
